GROWING SPACES NEWSDate: May 6, 2003
New Team MembersIn March we were blessed with new Growing Spaces® team members! Karen Delgado is our new Office Assistant. Karen started right in updating the documents included in the Sales Associate training program and coordinating the upcoming session. Jan Hollarbush joined us doing special projects, starting with updating our dome owner database. She will be contacting all of our dome owners to find out how the domes are doing and if there are any questions or service needs we need to respond to. Greg Ortell will be cutting the lumber for the dome kits starting this month. We look forward to adding a new generation of creative workers to this organization.
Sales Associate ProgramOur first training session for this year was held on March 10th. There were three couples, another gentleman and our two newest Growing Spaces® team members, Karen & Jan, in attendance. Our team of sales associates continues to grow and we will conduct training sessions on May 6th and again in June or July. Please let us know if you are interested in helping us promote this wonderful product.
Installation TrainingThere has been increasing interest in becoming a dome installer for Growing Spaces®. We are working on a training program in response to that interest. We have installed domes in 18 states already and Nick Parsons, our chief installer, is getting very busy. He supervises our crew or a crew put together by the new dome owner. We have heard from several of the dome owners who installed their domes without the help of our supervisor and most of them feel that it would be worth the extra cost to have Nick's expertise. We would like to see some comments regarding this subject on our website, www.growingspaces.com, clicking on the Web Forum link.
New FranchiseWe have a new franchisee in New Mexico! Detlef and Christina Klees of Apache Creek, New Mexico have a new 26' dome and, over the next few months, will be receiving the training required to start manufacturing and installing their own Growing Domes®. We are very excited about helping them get Growing SpacesŪ Apache Creek up and running!
Dome Owner DatabaseNow that we are getting our database functional and current, we would appreciate any updates to address, phone numbers and email addresses (or websites) that you would be willing to share with us. We will be sending out a new document to all our dome owners, which outlines the maintenance needed at certain intervals in the life of a Growing Dome®. This is a one page Word (text) document that we can attach to an email if you prefer that to "snail mail."
Web ForumOur web forum is growing by leaps and bounds these days! This is the place to ask other dome owners how they handle a certain pest or where they get aquatic plants for the water tank. This is also the place to get information from Udgar, our fearless founder, which might be helpful to other dome owners. You can find out who your fellow "domies" are and get ideas for the further growth of your favorite "green space."
Other Web Page LinksGrowing Spaces® continues to add associations to other "green" businesses. If you have a particular favorite, we'd like to hear about it so that we can pursue an association with them, possibly linking our web pages together. Our dome owners that have businesses are encouraged to recommend their business to Udgar so that we can trade links with them also. It's exciting to learn about the variety of products and services our dome owners are offering and we would be happy to help promote them. We would also be interested to know what media our dome owners subscribe to or peruse regularly so that we can help to promote those we feel would be beneficial to the group.
Storm TestingThe Front Range area of Colorado received quite a dumping of snow recently. The Growing Domes® there have held up well, looking like giant igloos for a short period of time. Some had up to 8 feet of snow on them, and none were damaged.
